Curriculum Intent

A high-quality economics education provides a basis for understanding the world. 

Our vision is to develop students fluent in the fundamentals of economics, and who have enthusiasm for learning and a desire to apply this to new contexts.

Students will gain in depth knowledge which they can recall quickly and accurately and an understanding ofhow the economy works.

Students will develop high aspirations, combining independent risk taking with collective curiosity.

Key Stage 4

Students who choose to study GCSE Economics will explore how we’re all part of the economy and how economic choices and issues impact on our lives.

Our curriculum covers macro and micro economic principles and students will learn how to use these to explain and evaluate real life issues and events, and to make policy recommendations.

The course is ideal for pupils with an interest in current affairs and who want to know more about the world around them. Students should have an interest in debating and the analysis of key data. They will be able to use an enquiring, critical approach tod istinguish between fact and opinion, build arguments and make informed judgements. Assessment is by examination.

Key Stage 5

This engaging and relevant specification enables students to appreciate that we’re all part of the economy and how economic choices and issues impact on our lives. At A Level, students will study both macro and micro economics in great detail and learn how to use these to explain and evaluate real-life issues and events, as well as make policy recommendations.

The course is Ideal for pupils who have an interest in current affairs and want to know more about the world around them. The subject is a social science and goes well with Maths, History and Geography. Assessment is by examination.
